I’d like to introduce Joyce and Pedro. I try to organize 2 visits a year for the Santa Maria / Machangulo animals.
Joyce from Brazil and Pedro are from Portugal and are both highly qualified vets, having met when a Pedro was doing his Masters and PhD in Brazil. They are married with two kids and have a practice in Maputo.
They have chosen to give of their time and experience to do outreach programmes on weekends
Vets on the road, is a NGO that has developed from the need to attend to animals in rural and other areas that have not been covered before. The basic concept is to keep animal populations and rabies under control. The suffering that arises from unwanted puppies or kittens is of huge concern and even at full term pregnancy is presented.
The NGO charges humane vet rates, which are a fraction of what each surgery would cost if individually quoted. Their rates are 15,000 Mets per person per day regardless of the number of sterilizations or consultations they do.
Vaccinations and material used is charged extra above the rate.
